Top Off System

Need a way of topping up my tank from a good size reservoir. So because of my space limitations I will have it outside in a enclosure which has the advantage of easy access for filling.  New water will enter system in wet/dry filter. Picture shows float sitting on yellow plastic pad.

Also because water will be sitting for several days  the chlorine in the water will dissipate before use  no water treatment will be required. And if reservoir does require filling it can be easily done by our house sitter while watering the garden. Picture shows hose leading outside and 12v power supply below

Reservoir is outside because of space limitations . I am using a 12V bilge pump to deliver the water inside.  For a float I am using one that is used on boats for a bilge pump. Because I need reverse action of the float to pump in and not out I have turned the float upside down and drilled holes into the plastic to allow water into the float chamber being careful not to damage float. Main advantage I am using 12V DC system and not 115 V AC  and parts are easy to find.

NOTE:

I did have one problem of siphoning when pump turned off which wasn't a good thing as reservoir could be emptied .

My easy fix was to drill a small hole in hose above water line at pump end which killed the siphon action when pump stopped.
