Not to much happening in the garden yet. But the plan is in place and as soon as it warms up I will start by laying out the new beds.
Gardening already but its true plants have been put in their new location in one of 2 new raised beds. Soil will be ordered in the next week or so. I am doing projects that I had planned to do at the end of March.
Starting to build a roof for the studio deck not to fancy but will keep me dry. It will also be a place to store patio furniture in the winter.
Pictures of the finished studio deck. Yesterday we went to bamboo world for the first time where I bought A 6' length of fencing and a trellis for our honey suckle. Ordered some top soil which arrives on Thursday.
The start of screening out my neighbours oil tank and stuff he stores there. It will also break up that big white wall. The posts are in and waiting for cement to harden but now its been raining ever since so finishing will be next week I hope. I might close that part of the garden in because I will then have a closed courtyard. Just a thought!!!
Today I finished my bamboo screen and it must say it looks pretty good. In fact I might add one more section to hide the rest of this garage. Digging these post holes is not a easy thing but I can do one more hole in this glacial till.
The new plan I will add two more sections to my bamboo fence. One section will come across where that 2x4 is so the garage will sort of disappear and almost completely close in my backyard. Should be complete by next week. No more structures for this year.
The framing is up and the posts have been cemented in place. The bamboo has been purchased and will be installed probably next week when the weather turns nice again.
The giant bamboo wall is complete and a big change to this side of the garden was achieved and it also gave us a lot of privacy a definite bonus. When we moved here this garden was one big field now we have many sections to walk through. This will be my last year where garden structures have to be built. Now plants will be my focus.
Took a walk around the garden with my camera and discovered some flowers are starting to bloom but because our weather has gone back to winter mode, in fact it was snowing this morning they have slowed down considerably.
Our quince is just starting to bloom. The rest of the garden well I think we are behind growth wise and now that the weather is slowly improving maybe we can leave winter behind.
Spring flowers are every where but I need more bulbs for more colour. Had the power washer out to do all my 3 decks to get rid of all that green slime that seems to appear every year.
My latest project an encloser for my garbage cans. Serves to hind the cans and also hides my neighbours oil tank from this part of the garden. The rubarb and red current bushes are takeing over this part of the garden which is OK can't wait for harvest.
The garden is coming along quite nicely thank you very much. We planted all our hanging baskets and deck containers. I had planted my vegetable garden the previous week so now its a waiting game to see how beautiful everything gets.
As you can see the garden this year has progressed quite well and with one big improvement which is where all my hanging baskets and pots get watered automatically so traveling in the summer time is a lot easier and stress free. Had to buy new tomatoes plants the ones that were given just died maybe planted outside too early. But all other plants in the vegetable garden are doing well. The rose bush on the studio is majestic with all its blooms.
I might not of liked all the rain but my plants seemed to enjoy it. In the next few weeks blooms will abound at Kritters Cottage. Please let the sun shine for more then a couple of hours each week .
Its peonies time in the garden and their rich colours and big flower heads brighten up the garden. The bad thing is its been raining all month so the flowers are drooping towards the ground because of the weight of water soaked flower heads.
My walk in the garden with camera to take stock and record the garden progress. Pictures of the broccoli showing great progress the problem is they were to be cucumbers according on the tags when we bought them at the nursery. All the flowers this year have done very well.
A lot of time has past without any additions of how my garden grows. But all is well in the garden many blooms abound and the grass was cut today. The funny thing is that I can see things that I already will change for next year will it ever end.
Above you can see our latest purchase 2 bird baths. The garden is a blooming success. All dahlias have grown except one which got taken by the slugs which have been more of a problem this year I think because of the wet spring we had this year. Also as we progress through the season I can see some errors in my planting where tall plants are totally in the wrong place.
