Stitchins

Hi and welcome to my Stitchin's pages.  I'm a crafty soul by nature, but I especially love to cross-stitch and quilt and I have to say that I always have several projects on the go. Roy says that I have a project in just about every room in the house--but I don't think I'm that bad, but I always have something in the car to keep me busy (when I'm a passenger, or when I have to wait for something). You can check out my various projects by clicking on the buttons at the top.

I have also been involved in 8 Round Robins with various women from England, Ireland the U.S. and Canada and have been fortunate enough to receive them all back, although two people decided not to follow through on the last one, but of course, their pieces had already been done, but such is life.  I still must put borders on most of them, so they're not finished, but it's nice to know they are home.

2001 was a great year for meeting fellow stitchers from around the world.  When we were in England in May I was lucky enough to meet Sue, Margaret, Diane and Jacqui,  We had a wonderful time and we hope we can return the favour sometime in the future.  I also got to meet Bonnie from Mesa, Arizona in January, Rhonda from Newport Beach, California when she popped up to see me in early July, and June, a fellow Canadian all the way from New Brunswick when she was out to Vancouver on a visit.

2003 started out on a different note.  We moved from our long-time home in Port Moody to a brand-new town home in Maple Ridge, BC.   This move brought us closer to our cottage in Hope as well as downsized us a bit in preparation for retirement.  Town home living turned out to be not for us, so we moved in April of 2004 to a new home that we watched being built.

Late 2007 saw us selling our home in Maple Ridge and moving Roy to our retirement home in Hope.  We had renovated earlier in the year in preparation for this move.  Roy was officially retired as at January 1, 2008.  I worked until February 29, 2008 and then I, too, retired and joined Roy here in Hope.

2008 - We did my retirement trip to the East Coast of Canada as we'd never ventured that way before.  What a wonderful time we had visiting New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI.  Alas, Newfoundland was not on the route this time around, but we have plans for that in a few years.  On this trip, we met with many fellow stitchers - June, Josie & Andrea in New Brunswick, Gisele and Sally in southern Nova Scotia, Jackie in Halifax,  Gail in northern Nova Scotia and Denise in PEI.  What a wonderful group of women I was privileged to meet.

I am still getting my sewing room organized, but have managed to finish a small baby quilt for my flower girl's first child, due late April 2008.  I have another one on the go for a friend's grandchild, due late July 2008.   Won't you check out my quilting section and see what I've done?

2009 - It's been just about a year now since we've retired.  Things are moving along quite nicely and I'm slowly still putting my sewing room together the way I want it to be.  I've joined the local quilting group that meets twice a month and am enjoying working on a variety of quilting projects.  Hopefully this will be the year that I finish up a few of the UFO's hanging around.  On a sad note, we lost one of our little furbabies at the start of the new year, but it is a blessing to know he isn't in any further discomfort.  He was closest to me and I miss his little inquisitive face and his forever purring.  RIP Quimsby Doc.  I have gone out and found two volunteer jobs that keep me busy when I want to be - both allowing me to meet new people on a regular basis and I am having fun with them.  We did a fabulous cruise in June to the Mediterranean with our good friends Bob & Esme and met a few new friends as well.  Was it ever hot over there, but we had a wonderful time.

2010 - Here it is two years since I've retired.  I've finished a lot of quilting projects, still do some x-stitching and am still volunteering my time.  I attend our local quilting group 3x a month and also go to our guild meeting once a month in Chilliwack.  Needless to say, I keep myself busy.  We are awaiting for August to arrive as we will be taking a cruise to Alaska some of Roy's boyhood friends from Ontario.  We've never been before so we are really looking forward to it.  I am also happy to say that I have FINALLY finished the quilt for our bed - won't you take a look at it?  It was 4 years in the making.
